The app is super easy to use!

- View local maps of where your friends have eaten
- Share your kitchen creations
- Use the app’s AI-powered tech to search your camera roll so you can relive food photo memories from the past
We had the chance to chat with Spencer and Sophia Rascoff, the father-daughter team who created Recon Food! Both Spencer and Sophia grew up around entrepreneurs and have always been interested in technology. Created during the pandemic, the Rascoff family spent a lot of time at home cooking and trying new recipes, even baking almost every night at one point.
While social media can be very toxic, from portraying a perfect life to comment fights, Sophia and Spencer wanted to create a space that was less toxic and much more fun. One example is that the app does not contain “like” counts – it’s strictly about the food. You may find Spencer posting meals from some of his favorite restaurants like Katsuya or SUGARFISH or Sophia’s favorites from Jon & Vinny’s and Sortino.
Recon Food is helping local restaurants recover from the pandemic by helping promote their businesses or having diner’s share their favorite meals on the app.
You can check out our fun interview with this amazing duo here, including what it’s like to work as a father-daughter team and how Sophia is running the business while also going to school!
