I recently had the chance to sit and chat with Brandon Kindle, the General Manager for Mercedes-Benz of Tacoma to ask him about what winning this award meant to him.
Brandon says that the Larson family and the leadership at Mercedes-Benz of Tacoma have created a team of diverse individuals – and each of those individuals contributed to winning that award. He believes that all of their employees are exceptional, and because of that, they are successful in what they do. Diversity is key – and their employees represent their broad base of customers. Larson is also one of the only dealerships that is run primarily be women, from service to assistant manager to the mechanic, the majority of employees are women.
As the general manager, Brandon understands that customers want human interaction, and they want to deal with people who have integrity and character. He knows that trust has to be earned in the car business, and he believes they have cultivated a team that has these exact values. Brandon chose to have a team where he could establish a solid culture, and while they cannot represent the interests of everyone, they can work with one another, set guidelines on their terms and as a manager, he let’s his employees know that he is listening.
The Larson family themselves not only strive to invest in their employees, they also work heavily with charities and non-profits. They work with Relay for Life, JDRF Diabetes Foundation, South Sound Humane Society, Golden Bond Rescue, Charlie’s Dinosaur SCPF and the RAGS Wearable Art Sale and Show benefiting the YWCA of Pierce County. Along with their charity work, the Larson family has also donated pet oxygen masks to five different fire departments around South Sound, granted $10,000 to the Tacoma Humane Society, gifted a Mercedes SUV to a South Sound cancer survivor, and hosted the Official NFL Poker Tournament to benefit the Randall Morris Foundation.
