Universal Standard Tour Coming to Seattle and Portland

I am going to admit right now that I am 5’8″ tall, weighing in at 160 lbs and depending on the clothing brand, range anywhere from a size 8 to a size 12 and sometimes even a 14.  If you look at me, I am not overweight and I am fairly fit (thanks to 4 years of CrossFit).  I have often been frustrated with the fact that I cannot find a standard size of clothing that fits properly. I have curves, I have a booty, I have muscles, I have long legs and trying to buy clothes is often incredibly toilsome. With my personal life out there in blog-land, I am now incredibly excited to share with you some clothing news!

This is the whole size 10 and 160 lbs of me!

Seattle and NYC-based, Universal Standard, is transforming the apparel industry for more than 67% of women in America. The size-inclusive brand offers fashion-forward, high-quality clothing for women sizes 10-28, who until now have had very limited choices for clothing (I am standing up and applauding right now).

“We had become tired of making compromises, of always settling for what “worked” instead of what we really wanted, of sacrificing freedom of choice and personal style because of an arbitrary dividing line determined by size. SO WE CREATED UNIVERSAL STANDARD. No more compromising. It’s time to #SetTheStandard.”

Universal Standard is going on tour!!! Seattle will mark the tour-kick off on September 8th and 9th with a pop-up shop at Nordstrom, featuring the clothing line and its founders Polina Veksler and Alexandra Waldman. The tour will also include a nationwide model search to find the faces of its next campaign.

What’s Up NW readers can get a first look at the brand’s complete collection and meet the women behind the brand who are being hailed for their efforts to forever change the way women above a certain size are seen – and the way they see themselves.
