Fogo de Chão Opens in the Puget Sound

Carnivores of the Puget Sound rejoice, the Big-Daddy of Brazilian steak houses has arrived! Fogo de Chão, long held as one of the premiere Southern Brazilian steakhouse purveyors on the planet, opened its doors on May 14 in Bellevue. Just by reputation alone, it is now a must try for next level dining here in the Northwest for any who favor the Brazilian dinner experience. As only the 36th Fogo in the country to open its doors, this is a huge boon to the local food scene.

For those unfamiliar with the Fogo Brazilian Steakhouse experience, you are in for an all-you-can-experience treat. Gaucho Chefs circle through the restaurant with skewers of beef, pork, chicken, lamb and other delicious meat treats, asking if you would like a slice of their freshly cooked and fantastically hedonistic meat. Additionally, an expansive market table with cheese, fish, and other options is open for any patrons wishing to peruse the veggie/lighter side of life. You can also choose from specialty and local wines, craft cocktails, and other beverages from their beautifully adorned and well-stocked bar. In addition, I would HIGHLY recommend the beef rib sliders that are available during Happy Hour in the bar area. The ribs are slow cooked for 4-5 hours prior to being sliced and served. The sliders are an option never before available at Fogo de Chão and are nothing short of spectacular!

Fogo’s Bellevue culinary team is led by Head Gaucho Chef Helio Vieira, who grew up on his family farm in a small town in Brazil. Chef Vieira runs the kitchen and is also responsible for the well-oiled machine that is the Fogo Bellevue team. Chef Vieira started in the industry over 15 years ago in Brazil and prior to coming to Bellevue, worked in Dallas as a Fogo de Chão Gaucho Chef and various other positions, prior to being promoted to Assistant General Manager to open the San Jose, CA location in 2013.

Your intrepid What’s Up Northwest blogger had the fortunate opportunity to sample the newest Fogo at their soft opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on May 12. As someone who has had the occasion to enjoy the great food and phenomenal service that is a Fogo in several cities around the country, I was especially pleased to see that Chef Vieira’s team in Bellevue holds themselves to the same exact standards I have always come back for and have recommended to others. The friendly and professional staff at the Bellevue Fogo, located in Lincoln Square, will treat you to an epicurean experience sure to bring you back again and again! Much like the opening, Fogo’s Mother’s Day brunch was also an enormous success with almost 1,000 patrons taking their mothers out for a premier dining experience. Reservations will be difficult to come by on the weekends so if you want to really impress family, friends, or business partners, I would recommend you call for reservations ASAP!
